What We Do

Research in the synthesis, modeling, and advanced characterization of wide-bandgap semiconductor thin films and nanostructures.

Preparation of epitaxial and nanostructured metal-oxide semiconductors using solution growth methods and mist chemical vapour deposition.

Modelling of chemical and physical phenomena during growth, identifying nucleation and growth mechanisms, and developing new growth methods and reactors.

Laser, electron-beam, and ion-beam lithography in semiconductor technologies for local patterning and controlled nucleation of nanostructures and prototype nanoscale devices.

Focused ion-beam interactions with semiconductor substrates and tailoring the properties of semiconductor surfaces and interfaces.

Optical and electrical characterisations of semiconductor materials and individual nanostructures, including in-situ electrical probing of single nanostructures and their heterojunctions directly in a scanning electron microscope.

Design and characterisation of functional prototypes of semiconductor devices, including ultraviolet photodetectors and light sources, transparent electronic devices, and gas sensors based on nanostructured semiconductors.
